چکیده
Desde hace décadas los cuidados de salud en el mundo occidental han evolucionado de forma asombrosa, exigiendo la puesta en marcha de importantes recursos materiales y humanos, marcando prioridades en la orientación de los costes. La compleja situación en que nos encontramos actualmente, hace necesario articular estrategias que permitan asegurar los servicios con previsión de futuro, la rentabilización de los recursos se revela como la máxima prioridad. Los profesionales de Enfermería constituimos una fuerza humana y social de gran impacto, por su número, polivalencia y flexibilidad, nuestras competencias son muy diversas y se adaptan a todos los ámbitos relacionados con el cuidado de la salud, la asistencia directa, gestión, docencia e investigación, aportando un servicio especial, claro, concreto e indiscutiblemente necesario. Pero hemos estado atrapados en una compleja e intensa red de limitaciones, que abarca todos estos campos de actuación y que han impedido nuestro máximo desarrollo científico y profesional. Restricciones legales para la práctica clínica autónoma e independiente, escasa participación en la toma de decisiones a nivel sociopolítico sobre el cuidado de la salud, el concepto generalizado dentro del contexto sanitario sobre papel propio y específico de los profesionales de Enfermería y la confusión o inexactitud acerca del mismo, contaminando con factores externos nuestra autonomía o haciendo que esta sea percibida de forma amenazadora.
